After scrubbing off all the makeup, I did get to work on some quilting.

The quilts finished in November include the Low volume quilt.  I really love the look of the soft colors.  It just makes you want to snuggle up in it.

I bought a pattern for this Heather Baily Elephant during a Black Friday sale at Sew Contempo.  I had fun making these little guys.  I will be using these for an ornament swap.  They are a little big for ornaments, but maybe just for decoration.

October 12-12-12 Finish

I finished this tote for Carol Van Zandt at Andover for the Quilt Market.  I blogged about it below.  It was a huge deal for me.  And completed and delivered to Dallas, 2 pillow cases, a stuffed caterpiller, and a stuffed cat for my niece and nephew's 4th birthday party.  Made a mini quilt for the HMQG mini swap.

But my daughter's wedding is in 3 days and I will have to post pictures of everything else later.

Licorice Fizz Tote for Carol Van Zandt at Andover Fabrics

OK, but I really finished 75 party favors, 4 bridesmaid purses and totes, the flower girl dress, the place cards and menus, sewed a bra into my MOB dress, and finished the wedding quilt.  I did not post a picture of the wedding quilt because it is queen size all in white and neutrals shabby chic.  It does not photograph well, but I will try to get one later.  Another thing I did in October was go to Salt Lake City to the Sewing Summit.  I have pictures of that, and will post them soon, too.

Oh yeah, family arriving tomorrow, and water heater went out....No hot water.  Such is life.

Sewing Summit Extravaganza

Well, this has to be the busiest I have ever been in my life!  And I don't even have a job....

1. The wedding is on track but I still have tons to do.  Place cards, flowergirl dress, goodie bags, and on and on and on.  Plus the weight I need to lose to get into the MOB dress.  *sigh*

2.  Made the pillows and stuff for the twins birthday, went to Dallas, came back.  Forgot to get pictures, of course.

3.  Went to Sewing Summit in Salt Lake City and had the fabric orgy I always dreamed of.  The hotel, Little Americas, was spectacular.  Shopping was over the top, and I had some really fun classes.  Ate alot of yummy food, compliments of the organizers of the Summit.

Licorice Fizz by Andover Fabrics.  Took this picture standing on the bed at the hotel in Salt Lake City.  I was sooooo excited to get it.
The best part was meeting a fabric designer from Andover fabrics, Carolyn Van Zandt.  She let me play with her new line called Licorice Fizz and I really love it.  I am so into Black and White fabrics right now.  Anyway, the best part is that (thanks to Gabby) she let me make a tote with some fat quarters of Licorice Fizz.  I made/modified the 241 Tote by Noodlehead that I had been wanting to make.  Well this fabric was such a great fit with the tote.  I used the Andover Dimples in a pinkish orange to put a little pop of color in the piping and lining.
I pleated the 4 fabrics in the front, added piping, and made the handles longer and wider.

Anyway, back to the wedding stuff.  I will try to get more pictures of the other things I am working on now that I found my camera!

12 Quilts in '12 August Finish

August!

It's the heat and the humidity!  Hello from Houston.  August has ended and "Fall" is near.  heh heh

OK, this month I made alot of stuff.  Right now, I will focus on the quilts.  2 quilts, that is...baby quilts...baby girl quilts.  I used two of my favorite pink lines of fabric.

First to be finished is the Sherbet Pips from my stash.  I used straight line and swirlie quilting to highlight the zigzags.  I LOVE the zigzag quilt and it is so easy.

My #2 finish is a braid quilt made from Putting On the Ritz.  I sure love this look, but did not really enjoy making the braids.  It was alot of little piecing and ironing.  Plus, I cut the braids wrong. (Please do not look closely).  I quilted leaves and really loved that part of it.  My daughter is giving this as a baby shower gift.

Ritz braids

I used the remaining pieces of fabric left over for piecing the backs.

Love making the leaves.
Remember to post your finish on this page, but check out Saf's page and Amy's, too.

12 Quilts in '12 July Finish

Happy July Everyone!

This month, safieh is hosting our challenge, so hop on over to her blog to link up your finish and enter to win this month's giveaway!

Been a busy month, but I finished my two Jelly Roll race quilts, thanks to the challenge from the HMQG.
Little Apples Jelly Roll Race Quilt

Made this quilt top at the Retreat last May.
I finished the Little Apples quilt with my first try at quilting leaves up and down the strips.  I think this is now my favorite method of quilting.  It goes fast and uses less thread than most designs.
Panier de Fleur jelly roll quilt
I made the French General jelly roll top at the retreat in May.  This one was my first attempt at feather quilting.
This one is nice and comfy

Feathers all over the place
This was much more labor intensive and used tons and tons of thread.  But I must say this is one of my favorite quilts.  Love the French General fabric!

See you here in August!
Remember to post your finish on Saf's page and check but Amy's, too.

12 Quilts in '12 June Finish!

June 12-12-12 Finish
I finally my June quilt that was started in 2009.  This is the last of my hand quilted projects.   The fabric is Sultry by Basic Grey and it is MINE.  I am putting it on the guest bed upstairs, if I can get the kittehs off of it.
I must confess that I have not finished the binding, but that is small potatoes.  I have 4 more charm packs of this fabric, thanks to Tammy's eagle eyes during our retreat.  Something will be made!
My babies love it.

Lots of handquilting and blood.

Put the label on in 2009, thinking I would be done in 2010, ha!

I used my dinner plates for the round quilting design.
This quilt has been on driving trips to New York, Chicago, Boston, Boise, Montreal, Toronto, Portland, Seattle....and everywhere between there and Houston.  Needless to say it is really well used and abused before being finished.  Cannot wait to wash it.  It's already soft-soft-soft, but will be sweet smelling, too!

Remember to post your finish on Amy's page and check but Saf's, too.

12 Quilts in '12 May Link Up!

12 Quilts in ’12 — May Link Up!
Hello and welcome to the May installment of the 12 Quilts in ’12 Challenge! I’m hosting here on my blog, but Saf and Amy are playing along, too. We hope you will join in!
Well, May has come and almost gone.  Wow.  I had alot going on this month, but I managed to complete a baby quilt that had been put aside for several years.  Still have no idea what to do with it, but it is DONE!
Using up some repro fabric and adding some applique
I just made this up with scraps from so 1930s repro fabric that I had in my scrap bin.  I thought it was cute and boyish.

Applique
Then I added 2 applique airplanes and 2 applique boats, mainly because it looked so plain.
And of course, it is the predictable cat magnet.  It might end up being Violets wubbie.  She is obsessed with it.  I had trouble getting a picture of it, sans cat.

Of course that doesn't compare to trying to get it quilted.  Both of my little stinkers were creating a difficult work environment, but it was soooo cute.

OK time to tell me what you have finished for May, and link a picture of it below.

April 12-12-12 Finish

I did it!  I finished my March goal by the end of April.  This was a quilt top that I was going to finish for my brother's Christmas present....But he selected another quilt made with Origins by Basic Grey.

The fabric is Fleur Nouveau, and I bought it probably 4 years ago and never could make myself cut into it.  Shades of pale aqua, black, pale green.

Anyway, I call it the spider web because something came over me when I was free motion quilting the circles.  It got waaayyyy out of control.  So, lets just say it is going to hold up for many many years.  There is more thread than quilt.  But the colors just draw me in.
Spider Web

I think Violet is the prettiest part of any quilt.
The back - sans kitteh

Sorry, cant help it, I just love my new kittens...(Proud Mama) Oh yeah and the quilt is now covering my couch.

March Finish!

Hello and welcome to the March installment of the 12 Quilts in ’12 Challenge that Saf, Amy and I are hosting.  Amy is hosting this month on her blog.
This is how the room looked when we first moved in.
My March finish is a little unconventional.  I could not complete any sewing projects, since my sewing room was my project.  Wonderful husband took a week off work to completely redo my sewing area.  It was the last room in the house to be cleaned up.
The repairs begin.
Dark red walls and messed up floors.
He refinished the floor (found hard wood under the carpet). He painted the walls with "Stillness" and white woodwork. And the furniture was rearranged, replaced.
Stillness - The same color as my new dishes - pale aqua

Getting better
Still getting organized.  It looks better, really.

...and the best part.....I added 2 new kittens!
Violet and Stella

Now that I have my new room, I hope to finish 2 big projects in April.
Remember to post your finish on Amy's blog and win a prize.
